Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.
My heritage and pride has been stitched together word by word. From gator hunts to small town drama to that one time Brother changed destiny, my South is made up of stories. Each one serves to teach, to share, to humor and to affect. Maybe it’s because we have so much material or maybe it’s because we love the little things, but Southerners have perfected the art of storytelling. If you can’t make someone laugh, feel the breeze or see the creek chances are you have a best friend or an uncle who you can count on to tell the story for you. Southern authors are the best way for each of us to experience this skill and I’ve just set out my personal Southern Lit kick. Armed first with Michael Morris, Carson McCullers and my subscription to the Oxford American I could not be more excited for this literary journey.
What books should I put on my list?

“Put them worries on the shelf ‘n’ learn to love yourself”
I have serious love and respect for Brittany Howard and the Alabama Shakes. The girl can sang, not to mention the absolutely electric sound of the band. Gives me chills every time. I’ve never been so productive as when I’m jamming to the Shakes.
The South, like chiggers and divinity candy, is everlasting.
